On July 10, 2019, the student selection consultation meeting was held by Academy of the Future Ocean(AFO) on Laoshan Campus of Ocean University of China(OUC). AFO's dean Professor Liu Qinyu attended the meeting. The meeting was hosted by AFO's vice-dean Ma Kun.

Professor Liu Qinyu first introduced the Academy of the Future Ocean from three aspects: Academy of the Future Ocean background, the talent training characteristics, and the selection plan in 2019. She said that the Academy, with an aim to train future academic leaders and world-class scientists in marine science and technology with an emphasis on interdisciplinary research and education combination, benefits from the participation of leading researchers and educators in the relevant fields worldwide and provides the best venue for students to pursue their research interests as well as advance their education.

Also, Professor Liu emphasized that through continuous reform and exploration, the Academy will become the top talent training base in the field of marine science and technology, which supporting and serving the marine power dreams of China, the innovation-driven development strategy, "the Belt and Road" and regional socioeconomic development.

The Academy, with an aim to train future academic leaders and world-class scientists in marine science and technology with an emphasis on interdisciplinary research and education combination.  

In the subsequent communication session, Professor Liu and vice-dean Ma answered the questions of the students which they were concerned.
