On the afternoon of September 5th, 2019, Student Selection Work Presentation of Academy of the Future Ocean(AFO) was held at the Lashan Campus. Professor Liu Qinyu, Dean of Academy of the Future Ocean, and Ma Kun, Vice dean of AFO, attended the meeting.

At the beginning of the meeting, Professor Liu delivered a speech and introduced the development history of marine science, the concept of talent cultivation in AFO, and expounded the academy's mission and talent training targets. The academy, with an aim to train future academic leaders and world-class scientists in marine science and technology with an emphasis on interdisciplinary research and education combination. 

After that, Ma Kun introduced the Academy of the  Future Ocean from the background of the establishment, the talent training characteristics, and the selection work in 2019. In the introduction, Ma Kun pointed out that the academy focuses on "strengthening foundations, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches, aiming at the forefront of advancement in marine science and technology and promoting innovation". The academy focuses on "problem-oriented" teaching model to inspire students in the process of learning different subjects, improving the ability to discover and solving problems. Ma Kun gave detailed introductions to the students' application conditions, selection scale, and selection procedures of AFO in 2019.

In the subsequent communication session, Professor Liu and Ma Kun answered the questions that the students care about.
